14 Weeks

"It's a lemon! Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth."

Happy Thanksgiving! 20 Months/13 Weeks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  This update is just a smidge late, but on Monday Bean 2.0 was 13 weeks along, and yesterday Regan turned 20 months old!  Where is the time going?!

"It's a Peach!  Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)"

This means I am officially in my second trimester - and I can really tell.  The nausea and exhaustion are starting to greatly subside, and I hope to feel back to normal soon!

Here's a picture of Regan the other day, when Grandma thought it would be funny if she wore a visor around her waist to carry her little people around in.  Thanks Grandma!

Ultrasound!

We had our N/T scan today, and everything looks perfect with our baby!  The baby was not very cooperative at first, and it took a while to get it to turn so we could get a profile.  Also, it had it's little ankles crossed, so we were worried we wouldn't try to guess to gender.  In the end we resolved both accounts.

So the ultrasound tech gave us the between the legs shot, and her best guess.  I actually guessed before she said anything... "it's a girl".  That's what she would have guessed, we looked at the tell tale three lines, and I was pretty convinced.  She said she was 80% confident and she's been fooled before, but I'm pretty sure it's a girl.  

Kevin and I are so excited at the prospect of another little girl!  Regan is going to be a great big sister!

Busy Fun Week -19 Months/12 Weeks

This week was a busy fun week for all of us.  On Friday we celebrated Mommy's Birthday, and Kevin took the day off so we could get some things done around the house and go out to lunch.  We spent the morning raking and mulching the leaves in the backyard, and Regan had fun playing in the leaves too!

The next day we headed to Rochester in the afternoon to meet up with the Ameigh Family at the Strong Museum of Play.  This was Regan's first time at Strong, and she really had a lot of fun.  It was great to spend time with Eric, Olivia, and Rosie too.  We hadn't seen them since Regan was a few months old.

 Regan loved the Carousel, she held on so well and waved to me every time she came around.  Unfortunately when it was time to get off the horse she thew a fit because she didn't want to get off.

We were both trying so hard to get a nice picture of them together, but neither would cooperate at the same time.  I think Olivia said she got a picture with both of them facing the camera

In baby #2 news, I had my second doctor's appointment yesterday.  Everything checks out great.  We heard the baby's heartbeat on the doppler, and Dr. T. officially made my due date May 30th.  He told me to expect to have my c-section 1 week before my due date, which would be the 23rd.  I told him, a little jokingly, but kinda serious, that it would be confusing to have a child born on the 24th and the 23rd, and that it would be easier if it was the same day.  He said that if I wanted to, he would do it on the 24th, but it would have to be later in the day because he has OB office hours on Tuesdays.  So I guess we have a tentative birthday of May 24th.

 "Baby is as big as a Plum. As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed."

Next week on Monday is our 12 week ultrasound, so I should have some ultrasound photos for the next post!

11 weeks

"Baby's now the size of a lime!Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future. "


This morning, with the help of the Doppler that Dr. G. let me borrow, I found the baby's heartbeat for the first time!  It was beating away at about 170 BPM.  I can't wait to hear that sound again.  It's so reassuring that there is a little life inside me.  For the past couple days I've been trying to find the heartbeat, and have worried about not finding it.  Last night I told the baby that it would be a great birthday present for mommy to let me hear the heart.  I guess I got my gift a day early!

It's time to start up the produce of the week for baby #2

"Baby is now the size of a prune. With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)"


I've been feeling pretty good this week.  The morning sickness and exhaustion have seemed to calm down a bit from the past weeks.  My next doctors appointment is on the 15th, and my ultrasound is on the 22nd.  So excited!

Happy Halloween!

Regan had a great second Halloween yesterday.  We carved pumpkins on Saturday, and passed out candy on Sunday, and Regan had a blast.

 At first she was wearing the bowl that we were going to collect pumpkin seeds in, on her head

 Then she started gaining interest in the "guts" daddy was scooping out of the pumpkin

 She dug in full force, no quams about it

 Turns out little fingers are perfect for separating the seeds from the mush, she did a great job!

Here's the final product of mommy's pumpkin... I also carved Kevin's pumpkin, which was Goofy (pics to come)

 Regan started out being a little confused as to why these weird creatures were at her door, but then she loved it when we let her hand out the candy

This is the only good picture I have of her in her costume, she will not sit still!
