One Month Old!

Rian was one month old yesterday!  Time is flying by!  It seems like we just brought him home the other day, but in some ways it's hard to remember what our family was like without him (of course that lack of sleep I'm getting makes it hard to remember anything).  

This past week we had fun enjoying the weather and celebrating Father's Day with our family.

On Friday, Kevin gave Rian his first  bottle, and he took it really well.  We were both glad to see this, because we had a hard time with Regan, and tried many types of bottles before we found one she liked.

 Of course Mom enjoyed one blissful week where Regan and Rian took a nap for the same two hours of the day.  It was great, and I got a lot accomplished (and by "a lot", I mean "I took a shower").  Now though it seems Regan is having a harder time going to bed at night, as she is awake for an hour or two after we lay her down.  I read that this could be a sign that she is ready to drop her nap - boo.  So this week I'm going to keep her awake during the day and see if it makes any difference with her bedtime routine.  If it does, then I will be very sad to see this nap go.

So here are Rian's official one month pictures.  We are going to use the little froggy that he got from Jen and Andy, which Regan has named "Pee".  Don't ask me why.

 This fourth week is proving to be a trying one for me and Rian.  I think he is going through his first major growth spurt and he is eating like crazy.  Gone is the predictability of the schedule that I was bosting about last week.  Lately he has been eating almost every two hours, and is very fussy most of the time.  He is hardly ever content to just sit in his bouncy chair and observe the word around him.  He is either eating, sleeping, or crying because he's hungry or tired.  I really hope this is only temporary.  I just keep telling myself that eventually (two or three years from now) I will get sleep again.

Three Weeks Old

In my last post I forgot to cover Rian's first doctors appointment.  It was rather uneventful, because he's so perfect!  Grandma Gannon took Regan over to her house to play, while I took Rian to the doctors, but she took the diaper bag for Regan, so I had to improvise the essentials for the doctors office:

Only a second time mom would venture out with her newborn with only a small purse, two diapers a sample pack of wipes and an extra onesie...

Rian was back to his birth weight at his appointment, and he checked out perfectly!  They said they didn't even need to see him at one month, unless we wanted him to be seen.  So he didn't have to go back until July!

Of course we managed to find ourselves back at the doctors office this past Saturday, because his umbilical cord had not yet fallen off, and mom was worried that it may be developing an infection.  Turns out everything was just fine, and they said it looked like it would fall off soon.  It fell off that night, and now it looks great!

We had a few really hot days last week - and we took advantage of it by spending as much of it as we could outside, going for walks and playing in the yard.

This week we started taking Regan to the playground at the soccer park, and she loved it!  She loves playing on the little kid playground, but her favorite was going down the "big slides" on the big kid playground.  She climbed all the way up to the top by herself - and launches herself down the slides with no fear!

Two Weeks Old!

Rian is two weeks and two days old today.  Things are going pretty well here for us at home.  Kevin and I have a routine worked out for the morning, where he gets Regan up and fed before getting ready for work, so that I can take care of feeding the baby.  Rian's daily schedule is becoming more of a predictable routine everyday.  He is sleeping for one 4 hour stretch at night, and then eating about every 2.5 to 3 hours during the day.  Lately I've been going to sleep when he goes down, around 9pm.   My sleep has been more about quantity than quality.    I hope that he will start going for longer and longer stretches at night.

Last weekend we had lots of fun enjoying the nice weather for Memorial Day weekend, and this past weekend we spent time with Aunt Rachel, Giulianna, and Rhyon for the last time before they move to Korea for a year and a half!  We will miss them all terribly, but they will keep up updated on their adventures abroad on their new blog.

Sunday we went to the zoo with Grandma Judy and Papa, and Regan had a blast.  She told us her favorite animal is the Giraffe.  Here are some pictures of our weekends:
