It's Christmas Time!

It's Christmas time here at the Kerl household, and we've been busy preparing for the holiday.  First, while mom was here we posed for a Christmas card picture in our Sabres jerseys!  Not an easy task to get everyone smiling and looking at the camera at the same time, so we settled on this one...the best out of about 20 pictures.
We've had plenty of outings, mostly for shopping purposes.  We've been to the mall a few times, back and forth to Target and Wegmans too.  I'm slowly starting to get my bearings in the area, and can even go places without the GPS.  A few weeks ago, Cheri and I had a mommy's day out and went to the movies to go see "Breaking Dawn".  While we were gone, the boys watched the kids, and made dinner for us when we got back! (Mark made dinner, Kevin babysat).

The cats are getting adjusted to the new surroundings too... Phoebe became a dare devil the other day when she jumped onto the decorative window above the front door, to chase a moth.  We weren't sure how she was going to get down, but in the end she just jumped allllllllll the way down.  She's continued to jump up there from the railing a few times.
The weather has been so nice here!  It's been about above average for the area every day we've been here, with the exception of three days, and it's hardly rained at all.  So basically sunny and warmish.  I still decided that Rian needed an ear-flap hat like the one I made for his sister.
The only yarn I had to match the multi colored stuff was this fuzzy blue one, and I think it looks really cute.  Kevin thinks he looks like a Muppet.
Regan is having much more fun playing around and with Rian, now that he can sit up and interact with her.  They play side by side with one another, and Rian finds her an unending source of entertainment.

Rian learned how to hold a sippy cup!

Regan wanted me to take a picture of her and her "friends"; Manuelo the praying mantis, Lizardy the Lizard, and Clifford.
This past Wednesday we had Kevin's office party to go to.  I actually drove downtown (well, Cambridge) by myself with the two kids, and didn't need the GPS!  Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so we only have one photo of the night.  Cassandra asked me if she could hold Rian, and she sat like this for the longest time!  She loved it, but she finally said "this baby's heavy" and she was done.  She and Rian really enjoy each other, it's really cute.  Also, we discovered that Rian's first tooth had emerged!

No Christmas in complete without Aunt Kay & Aunt Lu cookies! - we made a batch last weekend
So since we are going home to Buffalo for Christmas, we decided that Santa would come to our house this weekend to give the kids their gifts, so we don't have to lug them to Buffalo and back.  We just pretended that it was Christmas Eve night, and told Regan that when she got up in the morning Santa will have her presents under the tree.
Our tree after Santa came to visit
We took video of the kids waking up and opening presents, but I didn't take any pictures until after breakfast, when the playing of the toys commenced.  Regan and Rian got the perfect amount of stuff this year, and very few things involved batteries, which made everyone happy.
Regan's favorite gift - a digital camera

Handsome Man
Busy Girl
Spritz cookies - made with my cookie press
Gingerbread Playdough, for the neighbor kids - they brought us baked goods when we moved in
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls - for "Christmas" morning
That night we had Cheri, Mark, Cassandra & Baby Mark over for a big "Christmas" dinner.  Ham, and all the fixings, plus plenty of wine for the mommies.  We all had a great time, and exchanged gifts with them.  We are so lucky to have great friends nearby!
look ma, i can cook!
Yesterday Rian got his second tooth!  They are still too small to clearly take a picture of, but I think by the end of this week they should be erupted enough to see.  Now we are all getting ready to shuffle off to Buffalo for Christmas number two!

We're Here!/Updates/6 Months Old!

As my mother is quick to remind me, I am once again WAY overdue for an update.  Since my last post, we've had Halloween, Packing up the House, Moving to Boston and Rian turning 6 Months Old!  Each of those could be a post in themselves, but I am going to try to summarize them all in one big post... so buckle up!

Our last few weeks at home consisted of packing up boxes, and cleaning up.  Regan's favorite part is playing in the leaves that Mom was trying to rake.  Luckily we had a lot of leaves to jump in, and we had some really nice warm days to go out an play.
Rian and Grandma enjoying the nice weather
Regan has been testing boundaries like the typical 2 year old, and her behavior is enough to drive me crazy sometimes.  However, she has her precious moments which prevent me from selling her on Craigslist.
She discovered the Lite Bright at Grandma's house and her and Mommy made this picture
Daddy just had to buy these PJ's for her - she loves Toy Story
For Halloween this year, Regan got dressed up for a party at the Library and had lots of fun being dressed like a cat.

Halloween night was going smashingly when it was time to pass out candy at our house.  Regan was on the porch with me yelling to the kids from down the street "Come over to my house, we have candy!", and she helped me fill everyone's bags.  Then it all went south.  A boy with a scary "scream-like" mask on and a black robe came up, and Regan screamed and ran back into the house resulting in this:
Needless to say, I couldn't get her to go outside anymore and she would run away anytime someone came to the door.  She didn't even want to go out and trick-or-treat with me, even with the prospect of getting candy.  Maybe next year.
I went to make a pie only to find that Phoebe had taken up residence in the pie plate!
Rian finally started rolling over a few weeks ago... now we have a hard time keeping him on his belly!
We've started giving them a bath together, and Regan loves to share her toys with Rian, and "wash" him
On Monday November 14th, we packed up the UHaul truck and moved out of our house.  It was a bittersweet moment for us, since we brought home both kids from the hospital there, had their first nursery there, Regan learned how to walk and talk there...  I had to take some final pictures of the kids in their bedrooms
One last picture of me before locking the door for the last time!
One last look at the backyard (sans kids toys)
After a few days at Grandma and Grandpa Kerl's house, we drove to Massachusetts that Friday and closed on our new house!
Trying to decide where to begin
First things first, hang up some curtains to we can sleep that night
Then the parents arrived, and we unpacked the table so we could eat some dinner before the heavy lifting
I will post some pictures of the inside of the house once we get most of the boxes unpacked.  That Saturday night, the Grandmas made a Thanksgiving dinner, with all the fixings.  We all sat down and had Thanksgiving a little early this year.
The cats seemed to adjust well too.
One of our first days here Rian learned how to sit up on his own!
We got so many Thanksgiving cards our first days here!  Thank you everyone!
I hung the snowflake prism in the kitchen window, given to us by Aunt Jean & Uncle Ed - thinking of you guys!
Cassandra and baby Mark came to play on Monday
Hugs for Cassandra!
On Wednesday Rian turned 6 Months Old!
The sign didn't last long this time (I had to print it on the back of a copy of Kevin's Resume)
New Appliances (Kitchen Re-Model to follow sometime next year, but the Black Friday specials were too good to pass up!)
Thursday for Thanksgiving we were all turkey-ed out from leftovers, we tried to go out to eat.  But everywhere we went they were serving turkey dinner!  So we ended up, of all places, at McDonalds!  Regan had her first Happy Meal ever, and the rest of us at our first Big Macs in years!
Thanksgiving Dinner
Boston Cream Cake (not pie, apparently (we were corrected)) for Grandma Virginia's Birthday on Saturday
Regan asked me if she could read a book to Rian... maybe she really does love him
Put up the tree yesterday!  We have a fireplace to hang our stockings!
Rian getting into the spirit
Rian has his 6 month appointment on Wednesday, so I will post his measurements when we get back!  More house pictures to come!
