A Tale of Two Beans: Vacation

This past week was a very eventful one for Regan. We went on our second family vacation to the Outer Banks, NC - this time we went by plane. I was initially nervous about having Regan on the plane, especially two shorter flights, rather than one direct one. But, we bought her her own seat, so she could sit in her car seat, and I think it was a great move.

The first flight, she slept the whole time. When she woke up we were about to land, and I told her we were going to touchdown. She got really excited and started throwing her hands in the air (for "touchdown"), then started clapping when we landed.

The second flight she was awake the whole time and kept us and the other passengers entertained by playing peek-a-boo, and flirting with strangers. Plane Ride - check.

Next we had to pick up the rental cars and drive about 2 hours to the barrier islands and the rental house. I was really hoping that Regan wouldn't grump out on the way. We stopped at Sonic for lunch because Kevin and I have always wanted to go to one. At Sonic we picked up a pile of napkins, and whenever Regan got grumpy we would just hand her a napkin to rip up. That kept her entertained for the duration of the trip. Two Hour Car Trip - Check.

When we got to the rental house we only had a little time to get settled before it was time for Regan to go to bed. This was our next and last hurdle to overcome. I figured she would either be so tired from all the travel that she would pass right our without a peep, or she would be so grumpy and overtired we would never get her to sleep. Luckily it was the former. Sleeping Soundly - Check

We spent 6 great days enjoying the sun, beach, sound, and pool. We rode bikes went shopping and drank and ate until we nearly exploded. Here are some pics of all the fun stuff we did:

We went on a Jeep Tour to see the Wild Horses on the north side of the island. The ride was very bumpy along the sand and over the dunes, and Regan enjoyed every minute of it! She even fell asleep for about 30 minutes because of all the rocking.

So many things to say about this next picture. No one minds that Regan loves to splash in the pool and get them all wet, but when Daddy tries to do a cannon ball they all get angry because he splashed.
