Busy, Busy Week

This week was quite the eventful one, once again.  We started out last Saturday with Mom & Dad's first big night out, and Rian's first big babysitting venture, in order to attend Jen and Andy's wedding!  We had lots of fun, and everything was wonderful!  However, we are not used to staying out late anymore, so we called it an evening by 10:30.  Of course, Grandma and Grandpa had everything under control, and both kids were sleeping when we got home.

Rian is growing by leaps and bounds, and he has developed so much control of his head and neck that he can sit up in the Bumbo chair for a little while.  It's nice to be able to give his this perspective without having to hold him, because he's getting HEAVY!
We went to the doctor for this two month appointment on Friday, and here are his measurements:

Weight: 12# 8oz. - 61%
Height: 23.25 inches - 55%
Head Circ.: 15.75 inches - 45%

He is developing very nicely for his age, according to the doctor, and everyone remarked at how alert and aware he was.  Poor little guy had to have 3 injections and 1 oral vaccine, but he took them like a champ, and didn't cry for long.  Now we don't have to go back for another two months, at which time I will be attempting to take both kids to the doctor at the same time; Rian for his 4 month, and Regan for her 30 month!

This past Thursday we celebrated Great Grandma Flo's 89th Birthday.  We had a little get together at Grandma & Grandpas house with dinner and cake.  Regan, Rian and cousin McKenna helped Grandma Flo blow out the candles.

This weekend we a rare free weekend for us.  We had nothing to do, and no where to be.  Both sets of Grandparents were on vacation and we were just itching for some excitement.

Enter Kevin's grand idea to potty train Regan.  So we talked to our friends who had done the "Three Day Potty Training" and looked over the program and decided to go for it.  Kevin was gun-ho about the whole thing and even took Monday off so he could commit himself for the entire three days.

Regan had 12 accidents right off the bat the first morning, and needless to say, Kevin was a bit discouraged/skeptical.  However, after 3pm on Saturday Regan was accident free, aside from one episode during the night.  Ever since then she has been wearing her underwear and using the potty with very few mishaps - including staying dry for naps and nighttime!

We also decided, that since we were making changes in the house with Regan, that we would officially move Rian into his room at night.  We played with his schedule a little bit, and put him down in his crib for the night, and she slept till 4am!  Ate then and didn't wake up until 7:30!  I'm chalking it up as a major success, and we have much more room in out bedroom now that the bassinette is gone!

As if potty training your toddler, and sleep training your 2 month old isn't enough to take one for one weekend, we decided that we needed to get another cat sooner than later.  Cosmo has been a little forlorn since Pita's passing, and we couldn't watch him mope around any longer.  Enter Phoebe:
Phoebe came to us from the Buffalo Humane Society, from a litter of six kittens all named after the Brady Bunch.  We choose Marsha Brady, and she came to live with us on Tuesday night.
She is simply an awesome cat, with an awesome personality.  She's really tolerant of Regan and very playful too!  Cosmo is learning to love her, and is almost over the adjustment of a newcomer.  I can tell that eventually they will be BFF's.

Two Months Old

Time to catch-up on everything that's been going on this summer.

I know the last post was kind of a downer, so we are going to focus on positive still this week.  The fact that I am even able to be writing this post right now is due to that fact that my children are taking naps AT THE SAME TIME!  I am loving it!  Regan goes down about a half an hour before and wakes up about a half hour before Rian does, but that still gives me at least a hour of bliss all to myself!

So two weeks ago, I decided that I was sick of all my hair and wanted to chop it off.
I got Kevin to measure it, and I had enough to donate to Pantene's "Beautiful Lengths" program, so I made an appointment.  After asking me about a million times if I was sure I wanted to cut it so short, Erin took the plunge and cut off my entire ponytail!  She had one of the other girls take action shots with my phone...
Nine inches lost!  I feel like a new woman, and I love my haircut!
That week we also went over to Beth and Brandon's to celebrate Grandma Judy's birthday!  We had fun playing outside in the pool with Derek, and had dinner and cake together.

Time for Cake!
One of the first days of sweltering heat around here, we took the kids and the Grandmas (Virginia & Flo) up to the beach house to cool off.  Once again Regan loved playing at the beach, and Mommy and Grandma enjoyed the "fish pedicures" they were getting.
Regan found a really nice smooth piece of drift wood, and carried it around all day
Rian was either sleeping or eating the whole time we were there.  I'm not even sure he knew he was at the beach!
Rian has been developing leaps and bounds over these past few weeks.  He has since ditched the nickname of "Cryin' Rian", and is quite the happy boy now.  We have started to get some smiles and giggles from him, and he enjoys playing in his bouncy chair and on his playmat.
Batting at the toys on his hair - his feet were kicking away too!

Last Friday, me and the kids went to the inner harbor with Uncle Colin.  Regan loved the new sand area, and she was just about the only kid playing in it.  It was super hot, so our stay was short lived, but we did get some Ice Cream from the snack shop "Clinton's Dish" (get it?).  It's nice to see some fun stuff going on downtown.

Also just last week, Rian rolled over for the first time.  He was doing tummy time on his mat, and I looked away for a split second, and when I looked back, he was off to the side on his back!  He did this about 4 times, on both his right and his left side!  I got one of them of video - but i have yet to load it onto the computer.
Rolled right off the mat!

On Saturday we went to the Kerl Family Picnic.  Before we left, I put Rian down on our bed for a second so I could get changed, and he passed out on this belly - he looked too cute not to take a picture!

Two Months Old!
Where does the time go that my baby is two months old already!  He is also such a chunk!  We go to the doctor on Friday for his appointment, so we will see just how much bigger than his sister he is.  I have a feeling he will be taller than me by the time he's 12.

That's all for now!  I'll try to update on Friday with his stats from the doctor, and the video of him rolling over!  I'll leave you with footage of one of the first smiles!
