Busy, Busy Week

This week was quite the eventful one, once again.  We started out last Saturday with Mom & Dad's first big night out, and Rian's first big babysitting venture, in order to attend Jen and Andy's wedding!  We had lots of fun, and everything was wonderful!  However, we are not used to staying out late anymore, so we called it an evening by 10:30.  Of course, Grandma and Grandpa had everything under control, and both kids were sleeping when we got home.

Rian is growing by leaps and bounds, and he has developed so much control of his head and neck that he can sit up in the Bumbo chair for a little while.  It's nice to be able to give his this perspective without having to hold him, because he's getting HEAVY!
We went to the doctor for this two month appointment on Friday, and here are his measurements:

Weight: 12# 8oz. - 61%
Height: 23.25 inches - 55%
Head Circ.: 15.75 inches - 45%

He is developing very nicely for his age, according to the doctor, and everyone remarked at how alert and aware he was.  Poor little guy had to have 3 injections and 1 oral vaccine, but he took them like a champ, and didn't cry for long.  Now we don't have to go back for another two months, at which time I will be attempting to take both kids to the doctor at the same time; Rian for his 4 month, and Regan for her 30 month!

This past Thursday we celebrated Great Grandma Flo's 89th Birthday.  We had a little get together at Grandma & Grandpas house with dinner and cake.  Regan, Rian and cousin McKenna helped Grandma Flo blow out the candles.

This weekend we a rare free weekend for us.  We had nothing to do, and no where to be.  Both sets of Grandparents were on vacation and we were just itching for some excitement.

Enter Kevin's grand idea to potty train Regan.  So we talked to our friends who had done the "Three Day Potty Training" and looked over the program and decided to go for it.  Kevin was gun-ho about the whole thing and even took Monday off so he could commit himself for the entire three days.

Regan had 12 accidents right off the bat the first morning, and needless to say, Kevin was a bit discouraged/skeptical.  However, after 3pm on Saturday Regan was accident free, aside from one episode during the night.  Ever since then she has been wearing her underwear and using the potty with very few mishaps - including staying dry for naps and nighttime!

We also decided, that since we were making changes in the house with Regan, that we would officially move Rian into his room at night.  We played with his schedule a little bit, and put him down in his crib for the night, and she slept till 4am!  Ate then and didn't wake up until 7:30!  I'm chalking it up as a major success, and we have much more room in out bedroom now that the bassinette is gone!

As if potty training your toddler, and sleep training your 2 month old isn't enough to take one for one weekend, we decided that we needed to get another cat sooner than later.  Cosmo has been a little forlorn since Pita's passing, and we couldn't watch him mope around any longer.  Enter Phoebe:
Phoebe came to us from the Buffalo Humane Society, from a litter of six kittens all named after the Brady Bunch.  We choose Marsha Brady, and she came to live with us on Tuesday night.
She is simply an awesome cat, with an awesome personality.  She's really tolerant of Regan and very playful too!  Cosmo is learning to love her, and is almost over the adjustment of a newcomer.  I can tell that eventually they will be BFF's.
